Holistic/relaxing

Holistic or relaxing massage is often the way in which people experience massage for the first time or if they have regular massage, as this type of treatment is usually what’s offered in a spa or hotel.

‘Holistic’ refers to the idea that the therapist works on a physical, emotional and spiritual level with each client, which can seem confusing, but usually the purpose of the treatment is relaxation.

It’s a great introduction to massage because a full body treatment lasting 60 minutes incorporates back, neck, shoulders, arms and legs, and you can choose what sort of pressure you’d like the therapist to use:  deep/firm, medium, or light/gentle.  So you can drift off into your own world whilst the therapist works.

Holistic massage is usually suitable for people of all ages and backgrounds.

If you have no significant muscular aches or pains that need to be addressed (choose a sports or clinical massage if you want lots of focused attention on one area), holistic massage is a great way to experience the benefits of massage and find out if massage is right for you.

Before the first treatment, a short consultation is carried out to ensure Sarah understands any medical conditions, illnesses or injuries that might be relevant. Then, using a range of strokes based on Swedish techniques, the therapist massages you at your choice of pressure.

Receiving holistic or relaxing massage regularly brings a significant range of benefits for your body, most notably, reducing blood pressure and increasing the levels of immune system markers by roughly 70%, as well as leaving you feeling relaxed and de-stressed.  There are few other forms of activity which have such a significant effect, particularly when you’re lying doing nothing.

Holistic massage is the first type of massage that Sarah trained in in 2000, and it remains the most popular form of massage at festivals.

Treatment duration:  30, 60, 90 mins.  Offered at all locations.
